Emma Lou Diemer Toccata (1979)

American composer Emma Lou Diemer (b. 1927) is especially known for her choral and sacred works. She studied with Paul Hindemith at Yale University and was a Fulbright fellow at Belgium’s Royal Conservatory. This piano toccata (1979) features extended techniques, requiring the pianist to reach inside the instrument to touch, strum, and pat the strings.
